SGU, will never return true.

JAVA program I use to see if a show sucks TRUFAX. Stargate Universe is an insult to good SCIFI and the Stargate franchise. I'm going to stop watching before I lose the last strands of sanity I have left.

In other news: recursive backtracking is a bitch.

Referendum R71 is a critical threat to the Domestic Partnership law (the "everything but marriage" law) and it looks as if it might actually make it on the November ballot. R71 hopes to overturn the Domestic Partnership law and threatens to suppress gay and lesbian rights in Washington State. This Referendum MUST NOT PASS.

HOWEVER, voting to oppose (or heaven-forbid approve) R71 is not as straightforward as it might seem!! According to the Secretary of State of Washington State Sam Reed and the Secretary of State's official website, we will be voting whether or not to KEEP THE DOMESTIC PARTNERSHIP BILL!! Read the description of the referendum carefully, voting "approve" means that you APPROVE of the Domestic Partnership Law and OPPOSE the referendum to destroy the Domestic Partnership Law. Voting "reject" means you OPPOSE the Domestic Partnership Law and APPROVE the dismantling of the Domestic Partnership Law. It's confusing, I know!!

Issue the First:
I have come to the painful conclusion that I'm going to have to scrap my RikuSora epic of epicness and go a different route. My new plan, as much as I can say at this point, will be a RikuSora kid!fic/domestic!fic epic instead.

This is not a complete split from the original epic, kids were just going to be pushed towards later installments, but it still means I have to essentially start over. I'm thinking this plan will be more coherent because I will have a singular plot element to toy with instead of a million. However, if no one in fandom likes kid!fics, I just signed my own deportation order.

Issue the Second:
Would you, people of fandom, find the use of traditional, common first names (those essentially found in like MSN's top baby names or something) a turn off?

Issue the Third:
I have thought up a new rpf fandom: David Gallagher/Haley Joel Osmand.

When do I catch on to a fad? When it's dead.

So, life has made my writing time shrink from barely existent to nonexistent. Great...

It also doesn't help that I've lost all want to finish the 1st part of my Riku/Sora epic. I want to skip it but I'm not sure how that would affect the entire project... The majority of the first "book" is about Sora coming to terms with his years of fighting, through a metaphysical journey ala Cloud in FF7. It's also meant to test the waters for a rare!pairing (Wakka/Tidus) that plays a large role in the entire project. The second "book" is mostly a look into the domestic life of an older Riku and Sora. What do people think? Should I skip "book 1"?

PS: geekerypokery owns my soul with her Float. Jet/Zuko to the extreme.

PS 2: Launching rocket in undergrad lab. Going to be AWESOME.

PS 3: New issue of Shoustesu Bang*Bang is coming online tomorrow. Will read until eyes fall out. If you have no idea what SSBB is, it's a quasi-professional writing community that posts issues with original fiction a few times a year. All boyslove. All written prettily. All worth gold. Ipod will not let me link SSBB, google "Shousetsu Bang Bang" and you will not be disappointed.

Disclaimer: I do not own, nor do I claim to own, Kingdom Hearts or any of its related characters.

I am not dead! It just feels like I did.

School's been getting in the way of writing and as of right now, that seems to be the trend for the immediate future. I promise Bridges will hopefully get off the ground soon. I hope...

The Writer's "Perspective" has created feral plot bunnies demanding that I write an mpreg... Yeah, I'm a freak ^_^.

Kingdom Hearts + PTSD

I've noticed that in a lot of Kingdom Hearts fics, people totally skip the reactions most people have with war. To me, the total lack of anything dealing with PTSD, post traumatic stress disorder, is a bit disturbing. It's almost as if people think war is just a game. War has consequences that need to be addressed. Now, most people reading this are going to flame me and gripe about how I'm ranting about the portrayal of a fictional character, but please bear with me because I have much more than just KH's portrayal.

A history lesson for you all, World War I and shellshock. Anyone remember shellshock from History class? When soldiers were being constantly shelled and the meat grinder that was the western front kept on claiming more victims, some developed debilitating psychological problems from their experience. This is essentially what PTSD is, a debilitating disorder that occurs when someone undergoes a traumatic experience.

Even if Sora, in this case, believes in the cause he's fighting for, saving the universe and all that jazz, PTSD will probably afflict him afterwards. I think what most people think is that since he's fighting for a just cause, why should it be a traumatic experience? But PTSD and other psychological problems don't care about why you fight, all it cares about is that you fought and killed in the first place. Sure, Sora was fighting heartless and nobodies, but do you really think killing is an easy thing to do? Another objection is that since heartless and nobodies shouldn't really exist he's not killing anything per se, but stabbing something in the chest is a traumatic experience period. Let's also not forget about vicious animals chasing after people's hearts, mustn't forget that.

Now you're probably wondering why I'm trying to take this issue, but I have a really good reason, seriously. This total denial of PTSD is a manifestation of a bigger underlying issue in our society. What is war? That's why I'm griping about this.

To me, the issue is that many people look at war and think it's romantic, seriously, how many times has Hollywood used the plot of a maiden waiting for her heroic soldier to return? War is not romantic. Tell me, is shooting people and watching your friends die romantic? Is ending the life of a son, father, sibling romantic? I think that's not even in the ballpark of romantic. And it's not like war has changed since the first cave-man clubbed an opponent for power, war still dictates getting close and personal. War is ugly.

So, I think more KH writers should at least take into consideration how traumatic events surrounding Sora are and try to make a better synthesis of what Sora would be going through after his return.
